Lesson Four: Student Choice Assignment 2

Unit 2, Choice 1: Romans 12-16. Live as Saints Shouls Live
+My husband and I did this lesson together for FHE.

+According to Romans 13:11, salvation is "nearer".

+After reading Ezekiel 3:20 and Doctrine and Covenants 14:7, we must continue being righteous in all of our doings. We must also be faithful and obedient in keeping the commandments as we work out our salvation.

+In the following verses, Paul taught many things that would help lead to salvation:

Romans 12:1--We must present our bodies as clean and holy, willing to sacrifice for our God.
Romans 12:2--We should not be of the world, but doing the Lord's will which is "good, and acceptable, and perfect".
Romans 12:9--We need to cleave to that which is good and avoid evil.
Romans 12:13--We need to be hospitable.
Romans 12:21--We need to be found doing good to overcome evil.
Romans 13:1--Receive the Priesthood, the power to act in God's name.
Romans 13:3--Don't be afraid of authority, but make sure to use it to do good not evil.
Romans 13:8--Stay out of debt and love your neighbor.
Romans 13:9--Keep ALL the commandments.
+Review Romans 14:1-13; 15:1-3
What cautions did Paul give about judging?
Paul tells us that it is not our place to judge others, because everything is in God's hands and it is He who will judge us all. He also advices us to not put stumbling blocks in front of others. We should be there to help others out, not to hinder them.

+People may have different opinions and practices, but what is most important to remember?
We are taught and commanded to love our neighbor as ourselves because we are all God's children. People will have different opinions, but it is not up to us to judge them. It is up to us to be kind and love everyone.

+What additional insight comes from reading D&C 38:25-27?
We need to treat every man equally and love every man as we would want to be loved. We need to be one under the Lord to be His.

+Review Romans 15:25-26, 32; 16:2, 15
The term Paul frequently used to refer to the Church members in his day is "saints".
