Lesson Five: Student Choice Assignment

We are counseled to be "like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind." This is vitally important that we understand and adhere to because we know that if we are not one we are not His. (D&C 38:27) We need to thus come together in peace and unity of heart, without gossiping and complaining.

It is much easier to do what is right when we are with our parents who have strong testimonies. We go to church each Sunday because we go as a family. But you really show your faith when you are able to act just as obediently when you are on your own. As it says in Phil 2:12,  you have always obeyed and now "much more in my absence". We then receive counsel to "work out your own salvation", meaning we each need to gain our own testimonies of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We cannot truly know unless we ask for ourselves.

If you truly want to "come unto Christ", you should be willing to make whatever sacrifices that are necessary. It may be hard, but it will be worth it;even if it means suffering the loss of all things in order to have Christ at the forefront of our lives. (Philippians 3:7) When we are willing to give our lives to Christ, He will bless us with his tender mercies. When we are willing to stand with Christ in truth, He will give us the strength to do and overcome all things. (Phil 4:13)

The principle found in 2 Nephi 32:3 is that the scriptures tell us all things that we should do. Thus, if ever we have a question or are in need of counsel, we would be wise to turn to the scriptures for guidance. When we pray, we can talk to God. When we read our scriptures, He can then talk to us. Situations come and go, they change...but the gospel does not. It is steadfast, constant and unwavering. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the answer to any of life's questions.
